Day 4 – French Onion Soup

I’m sure many people love those cheap Euro-Branded pseudo-supermarkets just as much as I do. You know the sort, Lidl/Aldi/Netto. Same produce, drastically reduced price. At the start of the year, as I planned – and still plan – to cook something new each day I bought some onions from one of these shops. I paid £1.99. I am now the proud owner of 5KG of onions.

The time has come to make them beautiful as only onions can be. So, I had to think of something that used many onions in its ingredients list. Hello Onion Soup.

I do also genuinely like French Onion Soup. I like all soup – you’ll notice this later. I can only make one soup though, Leek and Potato. And only because it can’t really go wrong. Chop, boil to death, whizz. Soup where bits are meant to remain intact however, not succeeded yet.

Today I am changing that.
